Effective Communication
Communications is the core of human interactions. Verbal, written, electronic or face to face, we can always find ways to improve our communications.
I had one client who was afraid to give presentations to groups. He was very anxious before each one. We developed a multi-pronged strategy to enroll in Toastmasters International, create a template for effective presentations, and set a practice schedule six weeks prior to each presentation. With the template, he had a very effective structure for knowing his target audience, identifying what they wanted to know and what he wanted them to do differently as a result of his presentation. He practiced his presentation at least six times with different colleagues, family or friends, receiving feedback on ways to improve his delivery, tone of voice, body language, hand gestures and eye contact with the audience.
As a result of this effective effort he not only delivered excellent presentations he began receiving invitations to present to more teams and groups at work. He turned a challenge into an opportunity and is much more relaxed now when asked to give a presentation.
