"Only a life lived in the service to others is worth living." ~ Albert Einstein
Personal Brand
Your brand is your reputation – what you are known for. When your name is mentioned you are associated with certain expertise, specific capabilities and competencies. You may be known as a problem-solver, a collaborator, a sales-closer, a leader, a world-class presenter, a talent developer or an entrepreneur.
Your Elevator Speech
Think of what you are really good at and try to explain it in 30-60 seconds. Think of your unique abilities, a perspective you bring, a skill set you can apply in a particularly unique way. Then state how your strengths help your organization, team or client, directly or indirectly.
Start with two or three things you do very well. Think how they add value to the organization you work for, or the clients and customers you serve. For example, I coach high potential associates who are often expatriates who must navigate their careers in a global workplace, away from their country of origin. I help them clarify career goals, identify their strengths, align their choices with their values, overcome obstacles and increase their engagement and retention. Their increased commitment reduces turnover for the organization, saving resources all around.
Now it’s your turn. What do you bring to the organization? How does your contribution make a business impact? If you are not sure, ask some trusted colleagues or friends to get other points of view about your strengths and your value. Everyone has something to offer and everyone can make a positive impact if they are focused and motivated to do so.
