There is no passion to be found playing small - in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living." ~ Nelson Mandela

Personal Mission

Big picture – at the end of your life, when you are approaching your 90th + year, what kind of life will you look back on with a sense of fulfillment and joy? What impact do you want to have made? What will be your legacy? Whose lives will you have touched and in what ways? How will you have made a difference in the world? And what will you be most grateful for having accomplished?

Your mission, your purpose, is the hub of your life wheel. It reflects what is really important to you and who you want to be at your very best. It captures your deepest aspirations. It drives your choices and plans for your career and personal life. Your mission is reflected in the relationships you build, the kind of family you create, the kinds of friends you make and the life you choose to live. It captures your definition of personal success, uniquely yours.

Write Your Mission Statement

To write your mission statement is to clarify what end you want to serve, the kind of character you want to develop, and what accomplishments you intend to make. It’s the basis of making major life decisions and small decisions. It expresses you uniquely. And when you lose your way, as you may at times, your mission statement can be your compass, your guide back to what you are all about.

We discover our life purpose as we journey through life. It changes and evolves over time. It is a living breathing statement.

Here are some questions to help you get started with your mission statement:

Based on your intrinsic value and the gifts and talents the Creator has given you, how do you intend to utilize them and for whose upliftment?
What do you feel passionately about?
What challenges in the world do you want to work on?
When are you at your best as a person? What inspires you?
What are your interests and inclinations?
If money and resources were available, what would you do with your life?

Here is my mission statement and I’m still discovering it as I go forward. Every morning I resolve:

Live today with your 90th+ birthday at the top of your mind!
